Stories that start at the beginning are usually the best one and this one is no exception. 

It was 1956 and a young Judy and Skip Cook (Andrew’s grandparents) started wondering what the point was of having all of this paper thrown away every year after christmas and birthdays. A practical woman, my grandma has always been practical, she sat down at her sewing machine and started creating bags that could be reused each year during special holidays. She was happy with the outcome – the bags looked great and the children still loved opening them.

Year after year she added more to the collection until each year they didn’t need to use any paper at all. 

1989 came and went with a few major events – probably the largest event that happened, definitely ahead of the Berlin wall and the fall of communism, was the birth of Betsy and Rick’s first child – Andrew. As Andrew grew up he was joined by two further brothers and with that the added waste each Christmas. 

Judy sprung in to action and made us a full collection of christmas bags which we used year after year. The Fabric Gift Bag Company was first conceived in 2015 and after a few fits and starts (maybe more than a few which saw Andrew move country three times) we launched our first products in 2020. Sometimes these things take time.

Andrew is joined by his wife Andra, and his brother Michael making this a family business with long experience of using the products!
